WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 RIFLE IN CALIBER 40-82
Engraved on the side is 'Arapahoe County'. Gun is complete with Factory Letter stating that this is one of 51 ordered by the city of Denver for protection during some early frontier problems they were having. Accompanying this gun is a lengthy article from the Gun Report stating all the details as to why they went about ordering these. In superb cond with 90%+ bright vivid case colors on the receiver; the very bottom is a nickelly coloration, the sides retain all the color. Bbl and mag tube retain 98% bright heavy blue, orig wood has just a few light handling mars but still most all orig varnish remaining; complete with rifle style buttplate. Exc bore, original sights. Very fine, interesting, early American frontier gun.
