VERY WELL DOCUMENTED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY OWNED BY LOU GEHRIG IN CALIBER .38-40
Accompanying this piece is Lou Gehrig's original application for a New York State pistol permit on which one of the character witnesses is Ed Barrow, owner of the New York Yankees as well as some other well known dignitaries. Many documents come with this piece including a movie poster featuring Lou Gehrig in his only motion picture, 'Rawhide'. The gun was originally used in the movie and given to Gehrig as a souvenir. Orig cond is exc with nearly all the orig bright blue and vivid case hardening. 5-1/2, carved mother-of-pearl grips featuring a Mexican Eagle with a snake motif. Well documented, excellent piece of Americana.
