BROWNING MODEL 1878 SINGLE SHOT LONG RIFLE
One of the original Browning manufactured High Wall rifles, has a 32" heavy weight bbl measuring just over an 1-1/8" at the muzzle, caliber 50. Fairly good, shootable bore with deep rifling. The stock has a repair at the wrist done quite some time ago and it sounds solid there. The forearm is missing a sliver of wood on the left hand side from front to back. Probably 1/8" high and full length of the forearm. Original sights, I believe. Looks like a Freund sight with a wooden riser added. Rifle style buttplate. Overall metal is mostly a plum-brown patina coloration with sharp corners. Nice functioning action. The bbl has a hole in it about 1/16" deep. Unknown what that would be for. Other than that, it is a correct, all original gun. 200 range serial number. Hard to find. I have not had one of these in over 25 years. This is a better than average example.
