Kornbrath is believed to be probably the finest American engraver of all time. His scroll work is unsurpassed. The game scenes are exquisitely laid out. Hard to improve upon. The price for his work was probably 2 to 3 times higher than the average engraver. If you had asked him, he would have said it was well worth it. Gun is stocked in Fancy Burl wood. Very elaborately and beautifully checkered by RG (Bob) Owens. Overall gun is outstanding retaining nearly all of the blue which was applied at the time of engraving. Wood shows a few light handling mars and dings but generally VG with some wear to the checkering. A red Pachmayr pad which measures 13-1/2". Bbl is marked "Skeet," 26" with the Winchester duck foot type rib. Featured in a scene in a panel on the left hand side is a Lab in a hunting position. On the opposite side is a game scene of some pheasants with a lake in the background. Gun is absolutely sensational! Complete with gold inlaid initials on the trigger guard " J L W." Hard to improve upon.
