(8768-14-50) VERY UNUSUAL SEMI-DELUXE MODEL 73, EARLY 3RD MODEL RIFLE
Orig 24" full octagon bbl, button mag, orig sights, exc bore. The case colored receiver retains probably 95% of the case colors on one side with 90% vividness; the other side retains approx 75% with 75% vividness, bbl retains 98% bright, heavy blue. Orig semi-deluxe, uncheckered wood is in near exc cond with a few light handling mars and dings but retains most the varnish; rifle style buttplate. Exc throughout. Stated under 'REMARKS' in the Factory records is: 1", which would have to be the fact that the forearm is an inch shorter than standard for a 24" bbl. This forearm would have normally been at about a 20" gun; I think it was ordered that way to accomodate a certain number of shells. There's no doubt in my mind whatsoever that it's 100% orig. Exc inside and out, very unique gun. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

It's interesting to note that Hibbard, Spencer and Bartlett went on to become the True Value Hardware Co. Accompanying this gun is a Bowie Knife marked 'H.C. Cassidy' as well which apparently was presented to him at the same time. Overall gun is in exc cond with orig front, typical Buckhorn rear and Lyman folding tang rear sights. Winchester 1873 Rifles
WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 "ONE OF ONE THOUSAND" RIFLE.
Very fine, well documented, all original Model 1873 rifle. This gun was located at the time of the Universal Picture search for the 1 of 1,000 rifles that were made and later made tribute by the movie, ‘Winchester Model 1873’ starring Jimmy Stewart. At that time, the gun was owned by T.R. Jordan. The search took place in approximately 1950 and it was in his possession from then up until some time in the mid-70’s when it was acquired by a very knowledgeable and respected collector from upper Michigan State. The gun comes complete with a Factory Letter stating it’s 26” full oct barrel, full magazine, gold gilted Beaches front, correct Winchester Buckhorn rear and folding tang sights. Original wood is listed as fancy 2X grade with rifle style buttplate and is complete with original cleaning rod in the butt. This is the only one ever made with 2X uncheckered wood which exhibits intense grain right up through the wrist area which is quite unusual. Overall metal is excellent with sharp corners, fine markings, mostly a plummish blue brown patina coloration; no pits or signs of abuse, crisp action, fine bore. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e
