Winchester Pistols

(W2722-14-185) WINCHESTER .22 CALIBER SINGLE SHOT BOLT ACTION PISTOL

Original 2-piece checkered walnut stocks marked ‘103’; frame is marked serial #1. This gun has the 9” barrel, with the step-down in the barrel to reduce the weight of the gun. The front sight is a ramp made up out of the non-reduced part of the barrel. Again, different than any other front sight that I’ve seen on a Winchester pistol. The milled down area on the barrel also goes right through the middle of the Winchester legend and stamped right in front of the sight is the regular proof: ‘WP’ marking as well as a ‘P’ marking indicating Winchester parts, also indicating the fact that this would have been part of an experimental pistol. I’ve seen the ‘P’ mark also used on other Winchester pistols-it seems like they would use miscellaneous parts; sometimes one or two of the parts on the gun would not be blued (left in the white). I find all of these guns quite interesting. All original, excellent condition with 90% original blue remaining, fine bore. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(2534-13-246) WINCHESTER .22 CALIBER BOLT ACTION EXPERIMENTAL PISTOL

10" rapid taper lightweight barrel, original sights and a fine bore. This particular gun was manufactured with a cast brass receiver and walnut grips with a mother of pearl inlay. The grips definitely look like they are some type of a replacement. I remember one other gun exactly like this that had these funny looking grips on it but I believe they are correct to the gun. Excellent condition overall with 98%+ bright shiny original blue remaining, brass receiver retains 75% of the original gold gilting. A neat little gun and very scarce. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

Winchester Pistols

(2721-14-129) WINCHESTER EXPERIMENTAL .22 CAL PISTOL

2-piece checkered walnut stock and original 9” barrel which has a step-down mid-way, to lighten it, I assume; original sights, excellent bore. Original wood is excellent with nice, clean checkering and most of the original stock varnish remaining. Barrel retains 90% original thinning blue with a slight toning of brown starting to appear. Marked on the side of the stock is ‘102’; marked underneath the breech is serial #4. Overall gun is excellent and all original. This gun was manufactured without the Winchester logo on the barrel. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

GENERAL INFO REGARDING EXPERIMENTAL WINCHESTER PISTOLS

Over the last 30-35 years, I've probably had a total of 12 or 13 of these Winchester pistols. Every one I have had or examined have been different. The taper of the bbl, the sight, notches or grooves, the handles-whether it be walnut, brass or pot metal. The complete designs vary from heavy bbls to pencils bbls. I don't know just what they were trying to do. Every one I have examined has been under serial #20. I understand that at one time, these were offered for sale to the public in both Australia and New Zealand-I have not been able to confirm that, but 3 of these guns came from New Zealand. The sides of the walnut stocks are marked: one is marked '102', one is '103' and one is '104'. I'm not sure if this is Winchester's marking or the marking of an importer. The serial # on the same 3 guns, respectfully, are ser #4, #1 and #6. We'll sell these as a set or individually. Very unusual and quite collectible-I wish I had kept all the ones I've had over the years. Some range from VG quality to a strange, very crude, poor quality for Winchester. e
