Winchester 1892

The Model 1892 Winchester has a smaller variation of the Model 1886 action. It is a lightweight, streamlined successor to the Model 1873 Winchester. It was available in .44, .38 and .32 caliber, the same basic calibers as the Model '73 rifle. Also the new .25-20 round was introduced in 1895.

WINCHESTER MODEL 92 SRC Cal 25-20. Original sights. Excellent bore. Walnut stocks in excellent condition with very few minor blemishes. Complete with carbine style buttplate. I believe the receiver has been re finished. BBl and mag tube I don't think are. They retain about 95% original blue. The receiver retains 95% of an excellent re finish with one area by the serial number with some loss of blue and some pitting. Hard to tell it is redone if it is. Correct carbine sights and original saddle ring.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 RIFLE Cal 38-40. 24" full oct bbl and full length mag tube. Original sights. Mint bore. Wood has just a few light handling mars with nearly all original varnish intact. Rifle style buttplate has traces of case colors remaining. Hammer and lever retain nearly all case hardening. Gun retains 97-98% original blue with just a few minor spotting here and there. May clean off. Excellent gun inside and out. Complete with early antique serial number.

Receiver has turned from a blue color to a mostly plum/brown color with traces of blue in protected areas.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 TAKE DOWN Cal 32 WCF. Round bbl. Full mag. Rifle butt. Extra figure wood on this gun which sometimes happens on a special order gun such as a take down. Wood condition is good with some original varnish remaining. Most wore off. Good fitting at the upper and lower tangs. Front end is also a nice piece of wood in VG condition. Nice bbl blue with a few scratches and wear spots. Receiver is almost all silver. Someone cleaned it. Decent riflings in a somewhat rough bore. Could possibly clean up.

Original sights are present with the exception of a blade insert having been changed in the front sight. Wood has a few light mars and dings and a small piece missing off the top of the comb. Sound and solid. Rifle style buttplate. Overall metal is smooth and clean with mostly a plum/brown patina with sharp corners and excellent markings and a considerable amount of original blue in protected areas. WINCHESTER MODEL 92 RIFLE Converted to 357 mag by P O Ackley. Gun features a 16" trapper length bbl with a manlicker forearm. Ramp front sight nicely done. The gun is elaborately engraved with a cowboy scene on one side and scroll work on the other. Very nicely done. The gun has been completely refinished at the time that it was upgraded and the finish is just great. It retains all of that finish and looks much like Winchester blue. Dlx fancy wood in VG condition with crescent style rifle buttplate that is engraved as well. Ramp front sight. Marbles flip up rear sight and folding Lyman tang sight. Nice gun!

92 SADDLE RING CARBINE

Cal 38-40. Early antique serial number range. Flip up carbine rear sight. Near excellent bore. Overall gun has seen a lot of use and probably was carried every day. Numerous holes where there is tacks stuffed in on both sides of the forearm as well areas on the stock. On the back part of the stock are the numbers "909" placed perhaps by a blacksmith with metal and tacks. Done 100+ years ago and the wood has worn down around them considerably. Interesting gun. It has a replacement saddle ring and loss to the forearm from saddle wear next to the frame.

Comes complete with original saddle ring and has two holes tapped in the receiver for a more recent style receiver sight. Very nice gun!

Correct original rifle style buttplate with special order cleaning rod trapdoor which is present. Also included are the rare eyes for Winchester sling and includes correct sling swivels. Gun is all original complete with Factory Letter of Authenticity listing the take down, 44 caliber, oct bbl, plain trigger, rod in butt and sling swivels. Very unusual combination. Early antique serial range. 95% original bbl and mag blue toning slightly. Receiver retains about 75% original thinning blue starting to turn plum on the bottom. W630 WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 MUSKET; Scarce cal 32-20. Original 30" full round bbl with original sights. Original musket stock in generally VG condition with correct sling swivels and only a few handling mars. No splits or cracks. Very slight chip of wood missing in the upper right hand side near the tang. Good bbl markings. Overall metal is generally VG+ with 50% toning blue on bbl. Receiver is mostly flaked and is a plum/brown patina with traces of blue. All original with a few minor mars in the bbl, looks as though someone has taken the bbl off for some reason. I guarantee that it is the correct bbl for this frame. VG+ condition overall. Nice clean little gun.

Receiver is mostly a brown patina coloration with what appears to be some ones initials put on the receiver. A very scarce little gun. All original except where noted.

WINCHESTER MODEL 92 ENGRAVED DELUXE CARBINE It has a replacement 357 cal mag bbl. Excellent bore. Ramp front sight. Receiver has a Redfield Lyman sight. Receiver is very tastefully engraved in European style tight scrolls and floral motifs. Beautifully done. Fancy wood is very nicely checkered in a nonfactory pattern but tastefully done. Complete with shotgun style buttplate. Gun retains virtually all refinish that was applied at the time of engraving. Complete with a gold trigger. Marked on the lower tang is "D B Marshall Hazelton Pennsylvania 1959." Very attractive little gun. Should make a great shooter.

Slight dent in the mag tube that does not affect the spring. The wood is good fitting both at upper and lower tang and the buttplate. Forearm wood is also nice with no cracks or losses. Wood has the normal handling marks. Bore has decent rifling, scattered pitting and overall condition fair to good. May clean up? Cal 38 WCF.

Bbl has front sight but no rear sight. Missing forearm and mag tube. It does have the buttstock. It looks as though someone was going to clean and refinish but stopped in the middle of the project. Wood fits good. Action parts are all there and seem to function okay. 787,XXX serial range. Good project. As is.

Gun had quite a bit of pitting. Some of it has been buffed off and the gun has a fair reblue job. Some work was done to the bbl length. It now is 19-1/4 It does have a carbine style stock which is shy at both upper and lower tangs and especially at the toe of the buttplate. The forearm is quite nice. This has been re-stained in a sort of deep red and varnished. The gun is actually prettier on the inside with a VG bore. A good gun for the money.

ANTIQUE 1892 WINCHESTER RIFLE This old Winchester was built in 1898. It is a standard configuration rifle with round bbl, full length mag tube and crescent buttplate. The metal has pretty much greyed out. It looks like it had been cleaned many years ago. It is starting to patina back. Metal is relatively smooth with some light antique pin pricking. Cal 44 WCF. Bore is in fair to good condition with good riflings. It may clean up to be better than it looks. Action is tight and well functioning. Wood is nice fitting on both upper and lower tang. Looks good. There was a toe repair done most likely many years ago with the original piece. They did a fair to good job of repair work. Forearm wood is VG. Original sights including elevator. Antique 92s are getting hard to come by.

OCTAGON BARREL WINCHESTER MODEL 1892

A good looking Winchester in 38 WCF, oct bbl, full length mag and crescent butt. Serial range is 723,XXX. The receiver metal has aged to a greyish color. Bbl is greyish/blue. Good markings. Original sights. Nice action and VG bore. The wood is VG and fits and looks nice! Probably had some oil rubbed in years ago. This is nice example of standard configuration oct bbl 92!

Full octagon barrel, button magazine, VG bore. Smooth clean metal is a dark plummish blue brown coloration; VG checkered pistol gripped walnut with steel shotgun buttplate.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 SPECIAL ORDER RIFLE

25-20. Half round, half oct bbl with clean sharp metal and approximately 90% blue. Receiver retains about 60% with the balance (at the carry point) turning plummish. Nice fitting extra figure wood, fair to good bore. Good looking 1892.

WINCHESTER MODEL 92 PISTOL GRIP CHECKERED PLAIN WALNUT STOCK SEMI-DELUXE RIFLE IN CALIBER 25-20

Full round bbl, full mag, orig sights include a Buckhorn rear, VG+ bore, orig checkered walnut stock is VG with a few very light minor handling mars, most orig varnish, rifle style buttplate. 95% blue overall starting to thin. Nice, clean, sharp, all original.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 SEMI-DELUXE SADDLERING CARBINE IN .25-20

Button magazine, VG bore, overall metal is a thinning plum blue gray patina coloration with 15-20% blue in protected areas, slightly modified front sight, flip up ladder rear, metal is smooth and clean. VG checkered pistol grip walnut, straight grain, unusual crescent buttplate. Scarce configuration.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 ROUND BBL RIFLE WITH BUTTON MAG IN 38 WCF

Pretty good bbl blue which is starting to turn, receiver has a generous amount of thinning blue; even some somewhat bright case colors on lever. Perfect fitting wood with the normal dings and scratches; more so on the forearm. Appears to be a light coat of oil having been added? Good bore with some roughness, may clean up to be VG? 1906 gun.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 SADDLERING CARBINE IN THE DESIRABLE 44 CALIBER

This carbine has a couple of special order features such as a button magazine and a 3-leaf sight of which the center one is broken which is typical of this sight. Gun has a couple of proof marks as well; evidently an export gun. Overall cond is quite good with the receiver mostly a grayish coloration and a brown gray finish on the bbl, all markings are VG, bore is in fair to good cond. Wood is nice fitting and good looking. Nice little carbine.

Caliber 38. Retains 75-80% thinning blue on the full oct bbl, about the same on the receiver, traces of very nice case colors on the lever and hammer, full mag, orig sights. Pistol grip checkered wood, rifle buttplate. Exceptional bore. Very fine antique special order rifle in nice condition.

Nice receiver blue at approximately 75-80%, bbl is a blue brown with some thinning and wear spots, buttstock is perfect fitting with most factory finish remaining, forearm also great cond and has been lightly freshened up. Bore could use a good cleaning; I believe it will be a good bore. Very good looking rifle, orig sights.

Mostly a gray patina gun with some light cleaning done, some blue remains in protected areas. Pretty clean metal with some scratches and dings, all markings are VG. Good looking, full fitting wood with a rifle butt, coat of finish has been added sometime ago. Good to VG bore on this 1917 vintage button mag Winchester.

SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 RIFLE

.38-40 Caliber. 24" one-half octagon bbl, full length magazine, VG shootable bore, bbl and magazine finish have darkened and turned an even bluish plum patina coloration, the frame has thinned to an even plum patina, original flip up Lyman combination front and tang sights. Fine condition non-checkered pistol grip stocks, original hardrubber shotgun buttplate is missing a tiny piece at the toe. Complete with matching Cody Research Form.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 RIFLE

Item # 9141-20-168

Caliber 25-20 with an excellent bore. It has a 20" round bbl which has been cut down from a 24" and 2/3 length magazine tube. 85% toning blue in the bbl and mag. Receiver is mostly gunmetal grey coloration having the blue flaked off of it. Wood in about good condition with a rifle buttplate. Should make a good shooter.
