REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK RIFLE PRESENTED TO THE KING OF DENMARK KING CHRISTIAN IX

Item # M1-61-18-369

Cal 11.7 x 51R Rimfire. Presented by the Remington factory in 1868 to the King of Denmark. Very interesting-possibly one of a kind Rolling Block; marked on the upper tang with very early patent date '1868' & 'E. Remington & Son, Illion, New York'. On top of the breech, there's a very elaborate crown engraved with an 'R.C. the IX'. At that the time, the government of Denmark had placed an order with Remington for 20,000 Model 1867 Rolling Block Military rifles which were the same Cal as this gun. This was probably the largest order Remington had ever secured at this time & we can only surmise that this gun was given to the King in appreciation. Overall superb with a 32" full oct bbl-the last 3/16" is narrowed down to a fluted style raised ring at the end. Orig Globe front sight & very unusual Remington style flip up Buckhorn bbl sight which is held on by a screw & mounted in reverse-the back 1/2 flips up with an aperture that slides up & down to form a peep sight; mint bore. Orig tiger striped maple walnut stocks are superb with all the orig varnish-just very minor handling mars & dings; case colored semi-Swiss style rifle BP retains all the vivid case colors, frame retains 95%+ bright shiny vivid case colors, bbl retains 99% bright blue. Superb in & out. Very well documented-there's a whole stack of paperwork that comes with the gun which was in the Royal Family up until his grandson, 'Christian the X' who was King from 1912-1947, presented the gun to a member of the Royal Court. The gun has been in that family since then & was recently put up for sale which is where I acquired it. The gun has been thoroughly examined by 'Roy Marcot', a noted Remington historian who said it's truly a one of a kind, very unique, special gun. He had no qualms about the authenticity of the gun. All orig throughout with matching #'s & orig Remington style sling swivels. Would be the center piece of any collection.

Antique  $ 17,500.

REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK SRC

Item # R1065A-18-381

The bbl is 20-1/2" and has a good bore. Caliber is 45 or possibly one of the 433 calibers. Somebody put some sort of protective coating on the metal, which has a rusty orange appearance. Most of this can be cleaned off. Otherwise the metal has a nice grey-brownish patina. Bbl has "E.N." stamped on the top. Wood on this gun is also quite nice. This is a solid little Rolling Block carbine.

Antique  $ 1,775.

REMINGTON SPLIT BREECH SINGLE SHOT RIFLE

Probably about a 38 Rimfire Caliber. Deluxe wood, checkered at the wrist, uncheckered at the forearm, steel shotgun style buttplate, bbl retains 90% orig blue, receiver retains 75% fairly vivid case colors. Orig sights include a very neat folding tang as well as a buckhorn rear bbl sight. Very rare; these guns were made up out of parts that were returned from Savage to Remington. They were leftovers from various military contracts or something. Only less than 1,000 of these were ever manufactured; most of them had fancy wood This is the only one I've seen-they were advertised in the 1866 Remington catalog. Very sharp, fine little gun. Exc throughout.

Antique  $ 6,500.

REMINGTON HEPBURN HEAVY BBL RIFLE

Item # R223-20-385

Caliber 45-70. Overall gun looks great; appears to have been used out in the frontier: it's got a rawhide leather strap around the back of the buttstock to be used as a sling and a mark on the bbl where another rawhide strap had been attached. Overall metal is an aged plum brown coloration and has seen a lot of use with a fair amount of neglect but appears to be very much untouched; complete with double set triggers.
