These guns undoubtedly were there to help bury the dead and clean up the mess. Not easy to get rid of 300 bodies in 90 degree heat. Fantastic pair of guns retaining about 95% bbl and cylinder blue. Refinish would have been done in the Rock Island Arsenal. They have the correct scrambled numbers. Original wood grips are in excellent condition with correct cartouche. Both guns have numerous inspector marks as well as the US marking on the side of the frame. About 25-30% correct case colors on receivers. The actions are both excellent. Fine bores.
