1795 SPRINGFIELD FLINTLOCK MUSKET

Item # MR657

This is the Type 1 Springfield with 45" bbl. The pan and frizzen work very nicely with spring being just fine. The hammer spring does not work. It is loose as is the trigger. Evidently the spring is broken. Pretty much all there with the bbl bands, sling swivels, the iron furniture and even the ram rod. After close examination, I find this gun 100% correct throughout. I have a Factory Letter that lists this as a 32-40 with a number 4 bbl. I think this might be a factory error. The gun came from a well known highly regarded collection. Excellent gun that would be hard to improve upon.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 FACTORY EXHIBITION GUN IN GOLD AND NICKEL

Item # W237

Engraved in number 9 pattern featuring a buck deer in an oval on one side and another buck deer in an oval on the other. 26" full oct bbl and full mag tube. Original sights. Cal 45-90. Original checkered pistol grip stocks in excellent condition with rifle style buttplate. Overall metal is excellent as well. Crisp and sharp with virtually all original nickel on bbl and mag. It probably was refinished at one time. Documented as being in and out of the factory many times. Somewhere along the line, all of these Exhibition Guns have been refinished. The receiver would have either been silvered first and then gold gilded or coppered and then gold gilded. This one was copper first. Where the gold is missing, the copper shows through and it appears to be gold. Upon close examination you can see that a fair amount of gold is gone. A nice patina shows from the copper. Gun looks great! Most of these where well used and have rounded corners, but not this one! The corners are sharp and crisp. Excellent gun. Complete with Factory Letter of Authenticity.

MASSIVE PERCUSSION MARKET HUNTERS GUN

Item # MSG595

This gun tips the scales at almost 22-1/2 pounds. Bbl length is 43-1/2". Bore is approximately a 2 bore. Very few markings on this gun. Some sort of a proof mark on the top of the bbl and the numbers 35 on the side of the bbl. No maker indicated. This is a good, high quality piece and heavy duty it definitely is. Thick wall bbl. Relatively smooth metal which is a brownish coloration. Was is possibly a browned finish to start with. Some light pitting around the nipple area. The wood is in quite good condition. However it has had a couple of cracks on the left hand side. One from the buttplate about in the middle of the stock going forward and the other one on the left hand side above the trigger. Everything is good and solid. This is a very BIG HEAVY DUTY GUN!

Overall metal is an aged plum brown patina coloration with good markings, no pits. Covering this gun is a U.S. Dept of Indian Affairs approval seal authorizing the sale of this confiscated item. I've seen these before but don't know much about it. Nice, clean specimen of a very scarce little Single Shot rifle. Interesting gun.

Antique  $ 1,500.

.405 CALIBER WINCHESTER MODEL 95 RIFLE

Item # W291

This is a desirable caliber and has a crescent buttplate. Most 405 cal had the shotgun butt. The crescent butt looks very nice on the 95. It is a pretty decent gun with blue in protected areas. The remainder of the receiver is grey/brown/blue. Some light to moderate pin prick pitting on the left hand side probably from being in a case. The bbl has a lot of nice original blue. A couple spots of pin prick frecking. Right hand side blue is very nice and no pitting on the receiver. The buttstock looks and fits good. Probably a coat of oil added many years ago. The forearm, likewise, is in nice condition. A number of achievement marks on the forearm. It gives it some character. With sling eyes. Original sights on the 24" bbl. This would be a very nice hunting rifle.
